ADAPTATION VISIT AT THE DENTIST

The purpose of adaptation visits is to prepare children for visits to the dentist.
The little patient gets to know the room, the staff, gains trust. The visit is in the form of fun, during it NO medical procedure is carried out.
The hygienist conducts a number of activities that, in the form of fun, help the child get used to the office and the equipment used.

The dragon mascot, which is an educational model, helps in conducting the adaptation visit.

In addition, many props are used specially prepared for small patients. During the adaptation visit, we brush our teeth on a dragon or on a diagnostic model - we play with brushes, we play with an irrigator, a blower. We use the dental chair and its possibilities up, down, backrest, uses a special electric toothbrush for children. Learns various elements used during dental procedures, e.g. suction, anesthesia, drill and coffin. We paint and draw in a dentist-related atmosphere. We use multimedia and thematic applications. There are many attractions and the child gets to know only some of them on each visit. The adaptation visit is supposed to arouse the child's curiosity, willingness to come for another visit and be associated with a pleasant experience. Therefore, it should not take too long, from 15 to a maximum of 30 minutes.

  • No medical procedures are carried out during adaptation visits.
  • Parents need to be aware that adaptation visits do not guarantee that the child will cooperate during treatment. They are only intended to help parents prepare their child for a visit to the dentist.
  • The visit ends with a farewell, the child receives a symbolic surprise prize and promises to visit the office again.
  • After the visit or several adaptation visits, the child can use dental treatment in any clinic - the program does not oblige parents to treat their child at ORSMED.

Who is the adaptation visit for?

Adaptive visits have been created for children who are afraid of visiting the dentist.
Every child who feels fear before visiting the dentist, does not cooperate during treatment, cries or gets nervous can benefit from such visits. The adaptation visit program was created for children to help parents prepare their child for a visit to the dentist. We want to break the stereotypes functioning in society, which associate the dentist with pain and something very unpleasant. Visiting the dentist can be fun!

Is the adaptation visit important and necessary?

We meet with adult patients who still feel fear of visiting the dentist. Often the source of fear, fear and sometimes strong dentophobia are unpleasant experiences from the past. We want our children not to have bad experiences related to a visit to the dentist's office.
Modern dentistry gives the opportunity to make the patient's visit painless, pleasant and pleasant. We often hear from our patients that they never expected that a visit to the dentist could be pleasant and even relaxing. The adaptation visit is therefore very important and needed.

When should I bring my child for an adaptation visit?

We recommend parents that the child's first visit to the dentist should be an adaptation visit. Often a child goes to the dentist with pain, completely unprepared for a visit to the dentist's office. Scared, afraid, crying, does not want to cooperate with the doctor. Such treatment may fail. We encourage parents to bring their children to adaptation visits earlier. Don't wait to see the dentist until your tooth starts to hurt. The child will get to know the office earlier, he will know what can happen to him there. It will certainly be easier for him, and the visit will be less stressful for both the child and the parent.

How many adaptation visits does my child need?

It is difficult to predict how many adaptation visits will be needed for a particular child. Each child is an individual and requires an individual approach. So it may end with the first and only visit, and more visits may be needed.

Do I need to register in advance for an adaptation visit?
