Echocardiography (heart echo) is a non-invasive method of examining the heart using the phenomenon of ultrasound echoes (USG). The examination, regardless of its type, allows to assess the anatomical structures of the heart, myocardial contractility, structure and operation of intracardiac valves, as well as blood flow within the atria and ventricles of the heart, large blood vessels (aorta, veins, artery and pulmonary veins).

Echo makes it easier to detect a previous heart attack, the presence of a thrombus, heart cancer, fluid in the pericardium (i.e. in the sack in which the heart is located).

Electrocardiography (ECG) a diagnostic procedure used in medicine primarily to diagnose heart diseases.

Interpretation of the ECG result depends on many factors, the most important of which are age, medications and non-cardiac diseases. The result should be interpreted by a physician.

Holter ECG - records the work of the heart around the clock for later, detailed analysis.

Blood pressure holter -
consists in 24-hour automatic recording of blood pressure. During the examination, the patient is fitted with a special device that monitors the pressure all the time. Since a blood pressure recorder records blood pressure 24/7, the correct values will vary depending on the time of day.

Exercise test - The exercise test allows you to assess the physical capacity of the body. This test, by forcing the body to work harder, while monitoring the ECG record and controlling blood pressure, allows you to assess the efficiency of the circulatory system. It is helpful in the diagnosis and assessment of the effectiveness of treatment of coronary artery disease. The test is performed only on the order of a doctor.

Exercise test preparation for the test :

  • Immediately before the exercise test, do not smoke, eat, or drink strong coffee or tea. Take or discontinue the medications you have been taking so far as directed by the doctor referring you for the examination.
  • Take with you an outfit for the exercise test, i.e. comfortable shoes, preferably sports shoes, for walking and/or running, sports shorts/sweatpants or leggings and a short-sleeved blouse, e.g. a t-shirt.
